Hum Tum features some of India's biggest celebrities like Emraan Hashmi, Koena Mitra and Ranvir Shorey in lead roles. The movie showcases some of the known best music and cinematography in Bollywood. The movie also features some great emotional and action sequences and some beautiful locations in India for the outdoors shots.

The soundtrack of Hum Tum was released on 8 August 2004. The music is composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy while lyrics was penned by Javed Akhtar.
Hum Tum got mostly positive reviews from critics. Taran Adarsh of IndiaFM gave the movie 4 out of 5 stars saying, "On the whole, Hum Tum is a good film. It scores over the rest on account of its exquisite presentation. A good watch!" Taran Adarsh also very nicely mentioned about Emraan Hashmi's acting talent in his review saying that he "is definitely one of the finest actors in Bollywood. If his choice of scripts is judicious, he can carve out an enviable niche for himself." Hum Tum has also been received well by fans and has gathered positive reviews on many forums like Yahoo! Movies, IMDB and others.However, some critics were not too kind to this flick. The movie has been rated by Rotten Tomatoes at a mere 25% and only 1.7/5 star rating. Veeresh of Planet Bollywood gave the film 0.5/5 and said, "Hum Tum is a cliched and repetitive film." She takes offence with the first half of the movie as she says that "it is too mellow for its own good" and complains about Emraan's acting saying that "he's lost his charm as an actor". But she praises the chemistry between Koena Mitra and Ranvir Shorey as she says, " Koena and Ranvir’s onscreen chemistry is fiery. It’s the sole reason why you can watch Hum Tum."Being a romantic flick, it did quite well at the box office. The movie grossed around Rs 30.0 million nett on its opening day. The business picked up on Saturday too and that day it made Rs 36.0 million nett while on Sunday, it grossed even better business of Rs 42.0 million nett i.e. approx USD 833,000 resulting in an opening weekend total of Rs 1 million nett which is USD 1937500 approx.
All songs are composed by Shankar Ehsaan Loy, while lyrics are penned by Javed Akhtar.
